Coaching styles for change agents
Purpose-driven businesses that are committed to people positive impact need purpose-driven leaders. This means prioritizing a coaching leadership style over command and control, while still getting things done. It means making decisions that balance commercial gain with care for people and planet. And it means setting the example to rally your team around a shared vision for a better world, in good and bad times.
At FairChange, I coach established and aspiring purpose-driven leaders to operate as inspiring change agents. My coaching approach aims to empower your growth at the ‘being’ level (identity, vision and values), and at the ‘doing’ level (skills and techniques).
Depending on your preferences, I offer three different coaching styles that build on this approach.
Coaching is non-directive by nature. It’s not about teaching, advising or instructing but all about self-awareness and taking ownership of your growth. This makes coaching a perfect fit for change agents. No wonder it is the approach of choice for many leaders working on their professional growth.

Development coaching
Empowering your personal and professional growth
This coaching approach focuses on your development as a person and a professional to become the impact leader you aspire to be.
In our coaching conversations, we’ll develop and deepen the ‘be’ and the ‘do’ aspects of your purpose-driven leadership: the identity traits, vision and values that make you stand out as your authentic self, and the skills and techniques you need to motivate, guide and inspire others.
By asking meaningful questions and serving as your sounding board, I’ll support your growth as a purpose-driven leader with the influence and impact to inspire positive change.
Method and duration – Development coaching is a mid to long-term approach. Consisting of weekly 1-hour coaching sessions, the minimum duration is 3 months, which can be extended to 6 or longer, depending on your preferences. To help your change and growth process, we may choose to add written assignments, which we will then review together for feedback and further action. Coaching sessions are in-person or via video call.
Solution-focused coaching
Growing your capacity to address specific needs
Guided by your commitment to responding to a challenge or task you’ve come across as an impact leader, our coaching conversations laser-focus on this particular issue.
This can be a recurring behavior you want to change, a difficult goal you need to achieve, or a skill set you’d like to master. You may also face an ethical dilemma you need to find your way out of. With a solution-focused mindset, we’ll work towards effectively overcoming the issue.
Method and duration – Specific solution-focused coaching is usually a short to midterm approach, not exceeding 1 to 2 months, unless additional issues come up along the way that can be solved through extended coaching. Coaching conversations last 1 hour and take place once a week at a minimum, up to several times a week if the issue is urgent and critical. Coaching sessions are in-person or via video call.
Blended coaching and training
Leading with Purpose and Impact
This combined coaching and training program connects short, thematic masterclasses with one-on-one coaching to empower you as an authentic and purpose-driven impact leader. The learning focuses on the Impact Leadership Pyramid I developed at FairChange, walking you through the six layers connecting purpose, the rock-solid foundation, to impact, the social transformation that is the outcome of your change leadership.
While you’ll learn in your own time at your own pace, our coaching sessions will be guided by your intended actions for personal and professional growth, which are informed by each module.
There will be room to address challenges and dilemmas if they occur, while the incorporation of the combined learning and coaching results into your daily leadership practice is your north star throughout the coaching.
Method and duration – The duration of the Leading with Purpose and Impact coaching is typically 6 to 8 months. It consists of pre-recorded masterclasses, learning materials and related growth action planning, an optional Quick Q&A call to clarify learning questions, and weekly 1-hour coaching sessions.
While the masterclasses are offered online with learning materials for download, the coaching sessions can be conducted in-person or via video call.
